All I did was allow a re-start to happen for Windows updates. When the computer re-started, there were entire programmes and files etc missing. Parts of iTunes disappeared too, thereby rendering iTunes inoperative. All my restore points were gone too.

I also downloaded Ccleaner again. My system is currently stable, it was just a huge chunk of time that it took for me to get it back to where it was before I allowed the Microsoft update requiring a re-start to happen.
Anyway we move forward: What a pity that the Microsoft Support Engineer was only a "cut and paste" operative. Windows 10 update took approx. When Windows 10 re-started, all tool bar icons were missing and even the start button wasn't working.
After a couple of restarts, everything was back except that CCleaner and Speccy desktop shortcuts had disappeared. When I looked in the installed programs list, the programs had gone too. I would suggest you to perform a system restore and check if it helps.
