Quality was ok, around the same quality as channel 7s crappy SD, although picture slightly jerky. Only problem was it lost the stream about 5 times over the course of the game. It wouldn't fix itself up so had to back out and in to the channel again.

I have 3 devices registered all the time. Two iPhones and one PC the iPhones don't have this issue. Yesterday I tried to watch Foxtel Go on my Windows 8. It said I used all my registrations for this month even though my PC was listed as registered.
I called Foxtel and they deleted my PC and re-registered it. That same afternoon there was a update and guess what same thing again. So now I know something that keeps my PC registration details is lost when updating.
I had to call back today and told them what happens when I update but I won't hold my breath for them fixing it. At least this time they reset the amount so I have one extra re-registration in case it updates. There must be a file you can put aside that stores your registration info that you can possibly replace after the update or just overwrite the file.
This always happens when you can't call Foxtel. No idea but it is a pain. Happens on my PC often and my Nexus 5 seldom. On the Nexus, if I leave it a day, it usually comes back, but on the PC, it doesn't seem to.

I use the task manager in Win 8 to see the CPU usage. Eventually after about 30 seconds it starts to go again. If it's Auto it could be using your CPU instead. I've been plagued by "This content is currently unavailable" for a while now.
I have tried everything I have read off the support forums and have found that it is because I run two monitors, both with a DVI input. Apparently when you click from one monitor the Foxtel Go app thinks there is another device in play.

I assume it is related to updating the guide as programmes finish, and it locks up for about thirty seconds while the audio continues to play in the background. I've had so many issues with this app, first with the multiple copies of the same device, and with the connection errors, and this.
It really is an absolute joke that this issue still persists. I've pretty much given up on it and been using Netflix more often, but unfortunately for some Australian content Foxtel is the only option. Hopefully Netflix Australia will have a decent range of Australian content when it launches so I can cancel Foxtel once and for all.

They do on the actual box so I don't know why they can't via the Go app. On the website it states sp3 but some user on foxtel community's forum had a similar problem and fixed it by reverting back to sp2 from sp3 which seems like a huge hassle just for one program.

I am seeking a solution as well. Other services like sbs on demand, Netflix, Hulu work fine in full screen without the black strips. I have tbox but you do get to as many channels as GO, I have samsung 7 Series and seems Foxtel go doesn't work it used to when i first bought it, but not anymore, Kinda sucks my kids love cbeebies from BBC that's not on Tbox, Other wise i would use tbox.

I had this exact issue today. I fixed it by going to an older graphics card driver Silverlight must interface with the graphics card on some level when it starts. I changed my HTPC computer name and the app has logged me out.

After expanding to full screen, within couple of minutes the app reverts back to small window screen. These spikes are occuring every 30 seconds like clockwork — seen clearly on the Task Manager graph. I've updated my graphics drivers to the latest non-OEM release using the Mobility-Mod tool to no avail.
Net speed is not the issue. I know you have probably already done this, but have you tried updating silverlight? Yes, as far as I know everything is updated — I'll check for a manual download now however. I suspect it's a silverlight issue also..
I have been having similar problems to you and have been having Coregen. It's giving me headaches! I also had a Coregen. How similar are your problems exactly? Video lockups — I haven't timed them, but last time I was watching it it seemed to occur less frequently than yours one every 5 minutes at most.
Although when I restarted Foxtel Go it hung on the loading screen in the viewer screen for about 4 minutes then started playing, has worked like a charm since. Can someone who's done this please confirm how it is, ie picture quality, buffering, time outs any other issues etc.
The bit of software that worked for me was Actual. Not too bothered though at least its working. Only way I found to exit this tough was to end silverlight in task man; didnt seem to respond to esc to exit full screen.
Thanks — I'd seen that app or something similar mentioned in another thread but was dubious about using 3rd party software as a workaround. I grabbed version 8. The software actually seems fairly handy and I may use it for other things.
Reading more into the fullscreen dropout issue, it seems that silverlight is the problem. Together with the fact that foxgo runs in out-of-browser mode and in-focus permissions associated with that. Seems that a similar issue has been fixed by Sky's nowtv fox's uk equivalent No doubt foxtel probably "borrowed" the original app code from Sky their sister company in the UK.
Not being able to have this application fullscreened on a second screen is seriously irritating. What worked for me was to go to the Microsoft Silverlight program Windows Button — Programs — Go to the "PlayBack" Tab — tick "Enable download and updates required for protected content playback".

It used to be the Silverlight cookies. It is refreshing approximately every few seconds with a different programme and time, and half of them are simply displaying as 'Unknown' rather than the correct title.
Is anyone having an issue with the guide within the app displaying incorrect programmes? Quality was ok, around the same quality as channel 7s crappy SD, although picture slightly jerky. Only problem was it lost the stream about 5 times over the course of the game.
It wouldn't fix itself up so had to back out and in to the channel again. Quite a pain, it should be able to right itself. Or it should just be good enough on the server end to not have caused the problem in the first place.

This company is an absolute joke. Sometimes, if you change the channel drop-down from All Channels to Entertainment or something else, it temporarily seems to fix it but not for long. Also if you log out and back in, but nothing permanently fixes it.

Looks like the PS3 free trial offer has really taken off — my media PC playback performance has plummeted, permanent resolution drop with continuous buffering and "This content is currently not available" messages as Foxtel's infrastructure crumbles under the strain AGAIN.
This service cannot cope with any sort of demand and can't be relied upon for any major event that might attract a number of Go viewers. During the Super Bowl it became unwatchable 5 minutes into the coverage and stayed that way.
It might just be me, but picture quality seems to have improved a fair bit with today's update to foxtel go for PC. How can I get this to start maximised? I don't mean the video but the actual application.

I can't for the life of me get this app to work, I'm having similar problems to several people on the Foxtel support forum, but can't seem to get a resolution.
I can download and install the app, but clicking it to open does nothing, no error messages or anything. Got it all sorted, turned out it was my graphics card, had to find an update for the driver online. Biggest issue for me is that when I move the program over to my 2nd display, as soon as I maximize it, it disappears off the screen.
I can maximize it on my main scree, but now my second. Never had a problem like this with any other program, regularly watch VLC on the second monitor maximized. I have tried all the fixes mentioned this thread also.
The only thing ive noticed is that when the no content available msg occurs, if you click on home then back to live tv, the error appears very fast mins If you now delete the playready file, the stream takes longer to start, but also longer to fail mins.
I have 3 devices registered all the time. Two iPhones and one PC the iPhones don't have this issue. Yesterday I tried to watch Foxtel Go on my Windows 8. It said I used all my registrations for this month even though my PC was listed as registered.
I called Foxtel and they deleted my PC and re-registered it. That same afternoon there was a update and guess what same thing again. So now I know something that keeps my PC registration details is lost when updating.
I had to call back today and told them what happens when I update but I won't hold my breath for them fixing it. At least this time they reset the amount so I have one extra re-registration in case it updates. There must be a file you can put aside that stores your registration info that you can possibly replace after the update or just overwrite the file.
This always happens when you can't call Foxtel. No idea but it is a pain. Happens on my PC often and my Nexus 5 seldom. On the Nexus, if I leave it a day, it usually comes back, but on the PC, it doesn't seem to. Either use up the registrations or call as far as I know: I tweeted the issue on twitter and they pointed out it's a temp file so it should help narrow it down.
I let them know of the issue and on the phone as well. I think the guy on twitter thinks it was software like CC Cleaner related but if they actually test it they might find it's possibly the update overwriting the file or something.
One possible location is the location the launcher is located which is a folder inside outOfBrowser folder but each persons will have a different name. Thanks to Classic Shell for making that easy to find in Windows 8.

That wasn't it but they were right regarding it being my name and asked me to ad to the end of my name. I renamed my PC without the underscore and the issue hasn't returned, it's been working for the longest time.
What type of GPU are you using? Is that being used much? The MSI Afterburner large window is always on top that is why it's visible at full screen. Hardly used at all. I can only go by HWmonitor and temps are low and don't move.
I use the task manager in Win 8 to see the CPU usage. Eventually after about 30 seconds it starts to go again. If it's Auto it could be using your CPU instead. I've been plagued by "This content is currently unavailable" for a while now.
I have tried everything I have read off the support forums and have found that it is because I run two monitors, both with a DVI input. Apparently when you click from one monitor the Foxtel Go app thinks there is another device in play.
I hope they get a fix for this because I need to run two monitors. Yeah I hooked my mates up living in a unit But I got this error the other day on a single screen and all i had to do was esc and go back in and it was fine. Do you have any adaptors on any of the monitors or inputs?
That is what got me. Nope, no adapters, just DVI dual feed from my graphics card to each monitor separately. Some days I will get the error every 5 minutes, but at other times it might go for half an hour. I'll have to try this again and see if it does it all the time.

I assume it is related to updating the guide as programmes finish, and it locks up for about thirty seconds while the audio continues to play in the background. I've had so many issues with this app, first with the multiple copies of the same device, and with the connection errors, and this.

Next time you run it can you have task manager running and see if you get a CPU spike when it happens. There is definitely a spike when it occurs on mine too, on the first core. Realistically, any PC should run it fine, but every PC I've run it on has had an issue where the picture momentarily freezes every 30 seconds as the EPG updates in the background. Yes, and what I did was before I went full screen, I changed the TV guide to just show the music channels.
While there is still a tiny stutter, it is much more viewable. I guess the app only updates those music channel's programme information, instead of very channel's. WIll this on PC run fine fullscreen to a second monitor.

Yes it is normal unfortunately due to broadcast restrictions Foxtel cannot stream live broadcasting. I currently cannot on my pad but wasnt sure about these windows tablets that are technically laptops to.
They do on the actual box so I don't know why they can't via the Go app. On the website it states sp3 but some user on foxtel community's forum had a similar problem and fixed it by reverting back to sp2 from sp3 which seems like a huge hassle just for one program.
I've found a mini fix if you can call it that, but it only works once and the only way to keep it working is uninstalling then re-installing the application. After one use it reverts to the loading loop so i repeat the process again whenever i want to watch foxtel on the desktop.

All I see is complaints from PC users and rightly so. It's bad a enough I had to get Foxtel just to watch my F1 this season, now when it's raining or on the go I don't even get to watch it properly.
They need to get it together. I had all kinds of issues mention throughout this thread with the Windows version of Foxtel Go. Most stem from issues that were caused by Microsoft's Silverlight which sometimes leaves crap behind after updates.
Run a good clean up programme like CCleaner to flush out the debris left behind by these two programmes. Clean the registry with this while you are at it. Do a fresh install of MS Silverlight a google search will take you to the latest version on the Microsoft website.
Do a clean install of Foxtel GO directly from the Foxtel website using their latest installer. All things being equal, you should be good to go. If you have issues as to number of devices attached to Foxtel Go, contact Foxtel and have them reset the all allowed devices.
Repeat device registration process. I last did this process in December, and haven't had an issue since. I also have 2 x Samsung Android devices for my maximum of 3 devices. All now work each time and every time.
Occasionally I have issues with "live" programmes, but that is an issue at Foxtel's end and not the device usually. Keep in mind the time of day.. I usually access after 9: I think you may need to look into your computer as there may be a fault there — Silverlight isn't the best of programs but has no faults on my pc and all I have is on-board video and not a dedicated graphics card.
Et Tu is on the right track — however it may not be simple as that, you may have maleware or spyware on your pc, make sure you have a good amount of ram, check your device manager to see if everything is installed correctly you may have a system file that needs fixing.

I have an E Core 2 duo that's 3 years older and 4GB ram and it runs fine. The CPU is about equivalent to what you have http: In saying that, when I had the G video card in there, silverlight used to max out my cpu.
It no longer does but that may be because they have updated the app since. Bear in mind you're not going to get HD picture and on my 32" screen it's acceptable. I would think it would be quite grainy on anything larger than 40".
Your internet connection and local network would also determine picture quality. What I'm trying to establish is whether the picture quality will or can get better with better hardware, and would my hardware be bottlenecking.
To put this into perspective, the best way to describe the picture quality I have is that it is comparabke to a K stream on Netflix and you can see artefacting on the screen. As a comparison — look at this youtube clip https: So, I'd probably conclude then that the best pic quality for Foxtel Go would be similar to what I'm already getting, which is pretty crap really when you compare it to other streaming platforms.
Is there a similar setting for Foxtel Go? They want you to buy and use the full Foxtel IQ boxes and multi room etc. I'd be really annoyed with the quality if I was watching on anything bigger than a small computer monitor.
It's in the settings. I use it if I'm on a mobile connection to make sure I don't use too much data. It's basically unwatchable on a larger screen. Thanks for that, I just changed the settings, and the pic quality I get is typical of the P — ie similar to what I posted above.
Someone stated up above — 3 sizes should be changed to user preference, I totally agree but also they should incorporate a better tv guide with it and add the free to air channels in with it.
I think all of the above was initially to give people a taste for Foxtel and steer them into getting a full package or to prevent people from having multi-room capability for free. With the increase in online streaming services and now with Foxtel offering Go!

I think this is where issue for me lies. I need to try this on a more powerful CPU and see the difference. Silverlight is a crappy program — regardless of what ever you run, its buggy on most accounts of usages — thankfully fox go works well with it.
